Ad Libitum Concert Choir
The Ad Libitum Concert Choir, one of eight choirs in the White Rock Children’s Choir family, was founded in 1997 in White Rock, Canada, by its Artistic Director Sarona Mynhardt. It enjoys a broad repertoire of music from the Classics, Broadway, Jazz, Contemporary Choral to Folk and the rhythms of Africa. Choreography plays an integral part of the chorister’s musical experience. The choir has participated in Magic Music Days, Disneyland in 2000, the World of Children’s Choirs in 2001, “Symphony in the Park” with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in 2001, Musicfest Canada in Calgary in 2002, Queens Golden Jubilee Awards in 2003 and in the Tuscany International Children’s Chorus Festival during a tour in Italy in 2003. Sarona Mynhardt Sarona Mynhardt immigrated to Canada from South Africa after ten successful years of teaching and being a member of the professional children’s and youth choirs. Ms. Mynhardt received her vocal training at the Teachers Training College in Pretoria and as a postgraduate at the Conservatoire of Music at the University of Potchefstroom. She trained as a teacher specializing in Music, Choir Directing, Drama and Special Education. Since coming to Canada Ms. Myhardt has taught music in the school system, given music and drama workshops for teachers and teaches voice. |
