Bach Singers
The Bach Singers from Hungary were founded in 1985. Their goal was not only to present the longer, more worthy pieces from choral music, but also to perform works originally written for instruments, re-scored for voice. In the 15 years of the group’s existence the focus has moved from the gems of the Renaissance and Bach’s motets to more emphasis on early English music. In performance of works originally written for instruments, transcriptions of J.S. Bach’s organ works or suites are featured right alongside popular film theme songs, jazz melodies and other works from popular music. The choir is made of people from all walks of life. It has performed concerts all over Europe, and at home has performed in concerts with the Hungarian National Philharmonic and on the Hungarian Radio. Tamás LaknerTamás Lakner studied choral conducting in Pécs from Aurél Tillai and Budapest at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. He teaches methodology and choral conducting in the Department of Music of the Janus Pannonius University in Pécs. Mr. Lakner has received several awards for his choral work. As well as the Bach Singers he also conducts the Bartók Male Choir which has gained an excellent international reputation in the past few years achieving a very high quality which is backed up by several prizes and diplomas. |
