Bielsko Chamber Choir

Bielsko
Chamber Choir was set up in 1993 under the auspices of Bielsko-Biała Culture
Centre. The members of the choir are amateur singers, joined together by
their common passion for music.
From the very beginning the choir has been conducted by Mrs. Beata
Borowska. Jan Borowski is the second conductor. The choir's repertoire
comprises religious and secular compositions originating from various
periods: from Renaissance until the present age. Apart from a'capella
compositions, the choir performs vocal-instrumental works, e.g.: C Dur Mass
by L. van Beethoven. The choir crowned its five-years' work with 'Exultate
Deo' CD. in 1998.
The choir singers give many concerts and take part in choral singing
events locally and abroad, often enjoying the greatest success, such as:
- Grand Prix at the VIIth All-Polish Festival of Sacred Music, Rumia,
1995,
- Grand Prix at All-Polish Festival of Choral Singing, Katowice, 1998,
- Two Gold Medals at International Competition of Choral Singing, Riva
del Garda, Italy, 1999,
- Grand Prix and The President's of the Polish Republic Cup at
All-Polish Competition of Choirs, Legnica Cantat 31, 2000,
- Taking part in " Meet in Beijing " Arts Festival in Beijing in 2001,
- 1st place at 14th International Malta Choir Festival 2002.
Apart from classic music, Bielsko Chamber Choir also performs Negro
spirituals, compositions inspired by folklore of various nations as well as
light music compositions. |
Mrs. Beata Borowska
Mrs. Beata Borowska has been conducting Bielsko Chamber Choir and
University Choir of Bielsko-Biała / the second conductor / from the moment
of its creation. She is a graduate of The Academy of Music in Katowice. At
present she teaches at this academy. In 1988 she was granted the main
prize at All-Polish Competition of Choir Conductors in Poznań. In 1990 she
finished post-graduate, Choir-Mastery Studies in The Academy of Music in
Bydgoszcz. She is also a prize-winner of the festivals and contests of
conductors, among others, The Best Conductor's Prize at the Competition of
Choirs, Legnica Cantat 31 / 2000/. |
