Capital City Girls Choir

Now in its sixteenth year, the Capital City Girls Choir is an achievement-based vocal and music training program for girls from Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, and the surrounding communities. The three choirs of the organization are open to singers from ages nine through eighteen. The have performed at the North Carolina Governor’s Mansion, the NC Museum for Art, the White House, Washington National Cathedral, Canterbury Cathedral and St. Paul’s in London. The choir is associated with the community outreach program of the School of Music at Meredith College, which has been educating women to excel since 1899. Many of the Meredith music majors are fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the Capital City Girls Choir singers in the areas of choral conducting, vocal coaching and musicianship building.

 

Dr. Fran McCachern Page

Dr. Page is Professor of Music at Meredith College where she teaches methods courses for music education majors and also K-6 teacher licensure students. As the Coordinator of Music Education, she advises music education majors and directs and supervises student teaching. Dr. Page is President Elect of Southern Division of the National Association for Music Education. Recognized for her expertise as a children’s choral specialist, she conducts workshops and festivals throughout the state. She has done considerable work in the area of curriculum integration and arts curriculum planning and assessment.
