Powell River Chorus

The Powell River Chorus is a community choir that is celebrating 50 years of singing this year. The Chorus not only presents formal concerts in Powell River but also appears at many community events. They have traveled throughout British Columbia and enjoyed a concert tour in Europe a few years ago. The Chorus has won recognition in regional and national competitions.

Walter Martella

For the past two seasons Walter Martella has directed the Powell River Chorus. Mr. Martella is a graduate of the University of Victoria and has studied conducting with Don James and Elmer Iseler. He is an accomplished trumpet soloist, jazz pianist. As well as conducting the Chorus he also is director of two Powell River Academy of Music choirs and the Powell River Community Band.
