VSO Brass

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet, comprised of the VSO's principal brass, has been active in British Columbia's arts scene for almost 40 years. Throughout each cultural year, the group maintains an active recital schedule, plus annual Christmas & Easter appearances at Vancouver's largest churches. The Quintet has been heard numerous times on CBC radio and was one of the world's first brass quintets to produce a full-length recording.

The group's repertoire embraces all historical periods and musical forms, classical and non-classical. Quintet members themselves have contributed numerous arrangements and original compositions. The group most recently released Merry Christmas From The VSO Brass Quintet, a very entertaining CD, covering a large spectrum of Christmas-music styles. Members all teach at BC's major educational institutions. Many of their students have played in the Canada's National Youth Orchestra and continued on to performing and teaching careers. Quintet members also solo regularly with the VSO, university and local amateur orchestras and concert bands.
