Crystal Children’s Choir ~ United States of America
Crystal Children’s Choir was founded in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1994, the choir’s mission is to strive for excellence in choral music, providing choral music education to children and blending the best of Eastern and Western musical traditions.
Crystal has toured Australia, Asia, Europe, and Canada, and has performed at prestigious venues around the world; Crystal also received numerous invitations to perform in the CMEA Convention, the National Kodaly Educators Convention and the MENC 60th National Conference held in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2006. Crystal also had two appearances at the ACDA Western Division Convention, in 2002 and 2006 respectively, and performed at the 2007 ACDA National Convention.
Crystal aspires to be a cultural ambassador of children’s choral music, especially in the field of Chinese folk songs and new commissioned works.
Miao Hsieh
Miao Shan Hong Hsieh, a native of Taiwan, holds a bachelor's degree in music from Tung-Hai university in
Taichung, Taiwan. She also completed studies at Musik Hochschule in Wien, Austria, and Manes School for Music in New York.
Miao Shan maintains a private piano studio in the Bay Area, where she gives piano as well as singing lessons. She has also been the conductor of the Christ Choir of the Chinese Church for many years. Prior to this, she had shown her talents by conducting the South Bay Chinese Orchestra for five years. Currently, Miao Shan is actively involved in the local musical community to promote general music awareness as well as education in children's choral music.
She served as Vice President of the CMTANC in 2001. During the course of her career, she has led Crystal Children's Choir, the group she has had for years, to win multiple prizes. In 2005, the Choir received the highest honor awarded at the San Diego Heritage Music Festi
val.
Hwei-Min Lu
Hwei-Min Lu joined Crystal in 1995 and serve as conductor and voice coach since. Lu holds Bachelor of Music, major in Voice, from Soochow University in Taiwan and Artist Diploma from Cologne Music Conservatory in Germany. Mrs. Lu took lead role of Nellie in the musical South Pacific and performed as soloist in concerts at Germany, Los Angeles, Bay Area and Taiwan; as well as holding Voice Recitals periodically. Other then conducting Crystal, Lu conducts Tri-City Chinese School Children's and Adult Choir , Fremont Chinese School Children's Choir, and Fremont Da-Ai Adult Choir.
