Chor Leonis - Saint Helens, USA
Chor Leonis is the premiere chorus at St. Helens High School in St. Helens, Oregon. In 2018 they were named “Best Overall Chorus” and “Grand Champions” of a major music festival in Idaho, and they regularly rank in the top 10 Oregon high school choruses at the Oregon State Choir Championships. Chor Leonis also earned the coveted “Gold Award” at the San Francisco Heritage Festival this past April. This highly auditioned chorus travels regularly up and down the West Coast, and is currently planning a tour of Italy in 2022 where they will sing exclusively Renaissance music in the churches they first premiered.
Conductor Eric Stearns is in his fourth season as the director of Chor Leonis. The writer of Celebration of the Century, he toured the U.S. and Canada for over 3 years before becoming the Artistic Director of Way Off Broadway Players, a musical theater troupe in New York. He holds graduate degrees in Choral Conducting and Music Education, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University. In addition to his work with Chor Leonis, he is the Director of the Sunset Choir and Orchestra, and is the Chorusmaster for the Oregon Mahler Festival.
