Coro de Cámara de Mérida - Venezuela
Coro de Cámara de Mérida was created in 1995, and since then has participated in choral events in Venezuela (1995) and New York (U.S.A., 1997). In 2003 the choir earned the first Habaneras Award, in the XLIX International Contest of Habaneras and Polyphony in Torrevieja (Spain). In 2008, 2011 and 2013 the choir performed choral workshops in Alpe Adrià Cantat Lignano (Italy) and Cantat Novi Sad (Serbia), and in 2013 and 2015, concerts in Limburg (Germany). In 2012 and 2022 they participated in the International Habaneras and Polyphony Contest of Torrevieja (Spain). They also participated in the Europa Cantat de Torino 2012 (Italy) and Pécs 2015 (Hungary). They are part of the FACES University Choir Foundation of the University of Los Andes.
Melanio de Jesús León studied at the School of Music (1981-1985), School of Economics (1988), and School of Post-Graduate Studies in Management and Planning (1992) at Universidad de Los Andes. He was president of the Federation of Choirs of the State of Mérida (1995-2003) and of the Venezuelan Organization of Choral Activities OVAC (1999-2002). He is director of the FACES University Choir and the Chamber Choir of Mérida, a member of the Council of the School of Economics, and the Coordinator of Cultural Activities at FACES Universidad de Los Andes.
