EnChor Choir - Canada
Vancouver-based EnChor Choir, directed by Morna Edmundson, is an SATB ensemble of experienced choral singers over the age of 55. EnChor gives two or three concerts a year of classical music from all eras, and has a strong outreach program performing at assisted living facilities and hospices. EnChor was a featured choir at the invitation-only international choral festival Festival 500 Sharing the Voices 2011 in St. John’s Newfoundland. The choir has also performed at the Bard tent in Vancouver and with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in its Day of Music, and its Traditional Christmas and Tea and Trumpets series.
Morna Edmundson is one of Canada’s best-known choral conductors with a strong reputation for excellence. Based in Vancouver, she is Artistic Director of Elektra Women’s Choir and EnChor Choir, an auditioned SATB ensemble for mature voices. Passionate since childhood about choral singing, Morna obtained degrees and diplomas in vocal music in Vancouver, Bellingham, and Stockholm. Morna has adjudicated in North America and Asia, conducted honour and festival choirs, and gives frequent workshops with youth and adult choirs. Her accomplishments have been recognized with many awards including a Vancouver YWCA Woman of Distinction Award. Morna currently serves Choral Canada as its President.
