The generous support of our Kathaumixw volunteers makes this festival a success for all. With an estimated 1200 participants arriving, volunteers will be needed for housing overseas singers, facilities, ushering, transportation, hosting, hospitality and much more.

As a volunteer, you will meet people from diverse cultures and backgrounds. For many, one of the highlights of the festival is opening their homes to guests from overseas. Many citizens are pleased with the appreciation and gratitude shown towards them by their overseas guests. Kathaumixw participants appreciate the hospitality and friendliness of our community.

How Can I Help

Housing overseas participants

You will have the opportunity to host one or more choir members from overseas. Billeting allows you to interact on a very personal level with people from different cultures. While the choir members are guests in your home, you will be responsible for providing them with accommodation, meals and transportation to their events. (Please indicate the number of participants you are willing to billet on the volunteer form).

Transportation

Drivers will be needed to transport choir members to and from the different venues. Drivers with class 4 licenses are also needed to drive passenger and cargo vans.

Ushers

Ushers will take tickets, monitor entrances and exits, hand out programs and help with seating arrangements during the international concerts and competitions.

Host/hostess

Hosts/Hostesses meet the choirs upon arrival in Powell River and orientate them with the festival program and site. You will also assist the choir with arrangements during the festival week.

Hospitality

Volunteers are needed to assist with distributing participant lunches, serving conductors' round table lunches and other festival social events.

Venues

Stage crews are needed during concerts and competitions to assist with stage setup and performers requirements.

Box Office

Volunteers are needed to sell tickets one month prior to Kathaumixw as well as during the festival.

Facilities

Volunteers are needed for site set-up and construction prior to the festival and for site tear down and clean up after the festival. If you have a special trade or skill, please indicate this on the volunteer form.

Clerical

Volunteers are needed for general clerical and computer work.
